In a proactive move to drive economic development, the Kerala government is actively seeking investors for the Vizhinjam project. With the imminent delivery of cranes to the project area, the government is preparing to host an international investment conclave to showcase the opportunities and potential. In an interview with Motherport News, Dr. Jayakumar, the CEO of Vizhinjam International Seaport Limited (VISL), shared details about the upcoming event. VISL is special purpose government company fully owned by the Government of Kerala that acts as an implementing agency for the development of the Vizhinjam International Transhipment Deepwater Multipurpose Seaport.
According to a report by Keralakaumudi on June 24th, the conclave will be jointly organised by VISL and Adani Vizhinjam Port Pvt. Ltd. It is scheduled to take place at a prestigious five-star hotel in Kovalam and will span an entire day. Invitations have been extended to approximately fifty prominent shipping companies worldwide, with the aim of gathering distinguished individuals from the maritime business sector. Union Ministers Nidin Gadkari and Sarbananda Sonowal, as well as state ministers, including the Chief Minister, have also been invited to grace the occasion. Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, will be in attendance. Additionally, a dedicated welcome team will be formed to ensure the smooth proceedings of the event.
As part of the conclave, all participants will have the opportunity to visit the Vizhinjam port and gain firsthand experience of its operations. A guided tour within the port area will be organised, allowing attendees to familiarise themselves with the facilities and infrastructure. Furthermore, the industrial corridor, along with related developments, will be introduced to potential investors. Attendees will have the chance to witness container removal activities directly, providing them with a comprehensive understanding of the opportunities for port-centric infrastructure development.
